DESIGN

For a long time I considered myself an art enthusiast, but never an artist. As an art history major, I appreciated the giftings of others, but felt horribly inadequate having to take drawing and sculpture classes of my own. Over time, I have come to realize that this capacity to create is within all of us (even me). As human beings we have a persistent longing for meaning and its appropriate expression. I now teach at an art school, and though my job is to teach English, I'm usually working on something artsy (when not consumed by comma splices, adjective clauses, passive voice, and the like).
