Usurper to the Throne

Self, what is thy pleasure?
For around thee cries, “You do you.”
Seduced I say, “I am king of my destiny!”
The world my oyster, splendid pearl and luster.
“My kingdom,” says Christ, “a pearl of great price.”
Where your treasure is, there your heart lies also.
Oh heart, enthralled by lesser glory!
I must be less and He greater -
Usurper to the throne, this is thy surrender.
